The geographical position of Luxemburg between France and Germany and its particular linguistic situation raises the question of whether Luxemburg is the centre of an independent literary production or whether it is the periphery of the German and French cultural area. By organizing meetings of poets in Moondorf, Luxembourgian literature was confronted with the newest trends in German and French writing. This confrontation allowed Luxembourgian writers to emancipate themselves from the image of backwardness. Today, French language authors exclusively write in the French language and their cultural centre is France, while German language authors often write in the Luxembourgian language as well. They are less attracted to Berlin or any other German city than French writing authors are attracted to Paris.
